(with respect to Cmonster...)
Grapenuts are a pleasure, especially with something sweet added...not
TOO much...but just enough to taste it. Some banana or a bit of maple syrup
or something. I don't even wanna use milk----like most any cereal I'd dare to
eat these days, I just replace the milk with water. It saves money,
and I'm not too hooked on dairy as it is.

I'm hoping the retro Lucky Charms box at Target catches on and we see more stuff like that. Maybe have them bring back some of the better prizes too.Leave a comment:

No prizes on the ones I get.
As a kid, I used to love sugary cereals like Honeycomb (my fave back then)...but now I despise them.
I only buy plain Kellogg's Corn Flakes, Wheaties, and plain Cheerios...I do add sliced bananas...and other fruits like strawberries and blueberries...that kinda natural sugar I like.Leave a comment:

My brother and I had a Monkees (Valerie) and an Archies (sugar) record from the back of a box. I do not remember which cereal it was though.Leave a comment:

1970's Style Michael JACKSON 5 Cereal Box Record MAGNET - eBay (item 200465526871 end time May-26-10 05:48:50 PDT)
Right before we moved from NYC to CA when I was 12, my mom was packing boxes. She was packing the encyclopedias (remember them?) when she found 2 cereal box records between the pages! The pic you see above was one of them . (Jackson Five, Sugar Daddy) The other was a Sugar Bear record (Feather Balloon). Now remember, these records came out in 1971 and my mom found them in '79! She always used to press them between heavy books so they wouldn't bend and play properly on the record player. But these are 2 she forgot about! She saved the whole back of the box (as seen on the magnet), and I even cut out that little "Watch the Jackson Five on ABC-TV" part and wore it as a badge for awhile. Y'know I STILL have both of those records (along w/ others) and they still play! Best cereal box prize EVER!! I wish they still gave those away. But for now, I'll have to make due w/ Shrek squirters.

I WISH I could still do that....who buys cereal just for the thrill of opening the prize inside?
Today cereal box prizes are the exception, not the norm, so when I spot a cereal w/ one in it, I just have to buy it! Even if it's a prize I don't really want. I just remember back when being the first to get the prize outta the box was a triumph!
*I bought a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch w/ a Shrek Water squirter, promoting the new movie.
In high school and the start of college I was all about cereal prizes and
fast food resturaunt kids toys...but I just got older and more strict about
what I'd eat, so I basically gave it up.
Maybe in Heaven...but for now, at least I have memories and also I can live
vicariously thru others like yourself.

The prizes are crap....same with the majority of Happy Meal Toys....they don't excite me enough to influence my purchase.Leave a comment:

When I was a kid it was "buy the cereal based on the prize" but now all the stuff is either mail-in offers or stuff I don't want. So I usually buy Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cheerios, or anything chocolate.

I was moaning just recently about how cereal companies don't put prizes in the packs anymore. It certainly influenced my purchasing habits.Leave a comment:

Naw, I still scan the aisles to see if there is anything good inside. I also like to imagine that I'll see some long lost flavors returned to life like Fruit Brute or Freakies.Leave a comment:
