    Does Canada use region 1 DVD's?

    Hey guys, I'm trying to buy some dvd's from a member here but he has no idea about region 1 or 2 or what ever, what region do you guys use up there?

                              Yes canada dvds are region 1. Canada release dvds also carries some dvds titles that were only released in canada as well. Cant remember the titles but have bought some over the years just to fill in the voids.

                                  The only thing that bothers me about Canadian domestic DVDs is when companies put French and English on the packaging. It's not on all of them, most Canadian DVDs look exactly like US ones, but some companies get weird about marketing to French Canadians.

                                  I'm very tolerant of French on other products - but I love movies and movie posters (I'm a designer and illustrator) so when I recently went to buy "Fantastic Mr. Fox" and it was cluttered with the extra text, "Fantastique Maître Renard", I decided to order it from the US instead.

                                  I would bet that this probably doesn't bother many other people though.

                                      I always wondered why many US DVD's have French stuff .. at least French subtitles or dubbing options.

                                      It never dawned on me until now it's because of Canada.
