I remember eating spam as a kid and liked it, I am more fond of vienna sausages though, yum! They are a lot like spam I think, love to eat them straight from the can with a fork. -
Yes and no... as a WWII Soviet reenactor, canned Spam is one of the American products we are "allowed" to have on public view at events. (The stuff helped win WWII, you know -- the US sent a ridiculous amount of Spam to the Soviet Union throught the Lend Lease program to help the Red Army win the war against Nazi Germany).
However, for period authenticity at WWII events, all my regular cans of Spam have been relabled with the monochrome "wartime emergency labels" and do not have any "Nutrition Facts" on them because no one required that sort of information back in the 1940s.
But I do have one unaltered can of Spam Lite. Boasting "50% less fat, 25% less sodium and 33% fewer calories than Spam Classic," perhaps you can do the math. A 12oz. can of Spam Lite ("6 servings") contains per serving: 110 calories, 8g fat, 3g saturated fat, 40mg cholesterol, 9g protein and 580 mg sodium.
...And as I look at this label, I now see small type at the bottom gives the higher (as claimed on the label) information for Spam Classic, which contains per serving: 180 calories, 16g of fat, 790mg of sodium.
But... it's GLUTEN FREE, so there is that.Leave a comment:

Thanks, y'all!
As for the canned meat product, I don't eat much of it, but it's incredibly tasty when fried and crispy.Leave a comment:

Living in Hawaii, we eat a bit of Spam here. Spam Musubi is a staple on any Hawaiian's diet. Spam Fried Rice is my favorite. It is usually in Saimin and fried Saimin too. I never ate it until I moved here but I do like it.Leave a comment:

Mom used to doctor it up so it looked like a baked Ham
Wasn't to bad either.
She also cut it up and put it into Mac n Cheese
Gotta love those cheap childhood mealsLeave a comment:
