I don't want to waste money buying water.
It sux because the last time this happened (lasted 3 days last year) they gave everybody in the twp free bottled water at the local firehouse.
Each family got 3 gallons per day.
This time we don't even get that and it's been 3 times as long already.Comment

My town has a well and the water is pumped to a water tower.
For 2 years out of 3 the tap water failed tests for high arsenic levels.
Don't ask me how arsenic could get into drinking water.
Anyway, I wouldn't trust the water from this town considering there's a chemical factory about 500 feet from mainstreet.Comment

The main contaminate in drinking water is what is called Coliforms Coliform bacteria - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
which is what is commonly the culprit for stomach flu. A boil water notice is handed out if there is a main break or if there is a new main installed. The first thing they do is flush the main and take chlorine residuals and then take bacteriological samples which take 24 hours to process. If the test comes back negative then they do a second series of tests just to make sure everything is OK. it sounds like when they took their second series of tests they came up positive for contaminates which can also be from human error. All you need to do to kill the germs is just get the water to a rolling boil and then you should be good. I work for the water dept and we almost took State for the best water in Florida, saying that , I STILL buy my water!Comment

In a February 2000 report, NRDC analyzed data compiled by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on arsenic in drinking water in 25 states. Our most conservative estimates based on the data indicated that more than 34 million Americans were drinking tap water supplied by systems containing average levels of arsenic that posed unacceptable cancer risks. We consider it likely that as many as 56 million people in those 25 states were drinking water with arsenic at unsafe levels -- and that's just the 25 states that reported arsenic information to the EPA.Comment
