    when your watching a standard dvd on a blu-ray players its simulated Hi Def?1080i or 1080p

    An upscaled DVD will simulate whatever resolution your HDTV scaler is capable of from 480p to 1080p. An upscaled DVD will look better but it will never look as good as a blu-ray movie with a native resolution of 1080p.

      Some players do a better job of upscaling or interpolating than others. The difference can be very noticeable between some players.

        Werewolf is correct on both counts.

        And Megoapesnut is too. Different players do different quality upconversions, and some TV's own scalers do a better job than some upconverting players.
