    Allergies!

So I am outside yesterday enjoying the great New York weather we finally started getting and decided to give the backyard a little cleaning and all of a sudden……
Runny nose, sneezing I could hardly see, the allergies hit me like a ton of bricks!! 47 years old and never had them before, now I can’t go outside without a handful of tissues.

Since this crap is all new to me what do you who suffer from the same fate recommend? There are so many brands out there what has worked best for you?

On of my buddys used to suffer from allergies

He used to go to his doc once a week for an allergy shot and it helped him bigtime -- and that was back in the 80's

Depnding on what specifcally triggers it:

        - Allergy shot
        - Zyrtec / Clariton

Someone once mentioned to me that if you have a local Farmer's Market, buy a jar of Locally Harvested Bee Honey and take a spoonful a day...sounds logical, but I don't know if there is any science behind it.

With Zyrtec and/or Clariton you have a choice between Decongestant & Non-Decongestant...My problem with those are the fact that they come in 12/24 hr dosages and the 24 dosage ones always make me feel funny (Heart Flutters), so I take the lower dosages.

Of course...see your doctor and try to find out what is your trigger...it could be a combination of fruit your eating along with the pollen count outside...all sorts of wacky *****.

...but...I'm like you...once I hit my late 30's (I'm 44 now)...BAM...can't go a season now without the Hover Dam pouring out of my nose.
Everyone is Entitled to MY Opinion...Your's, not so much!

Just saw a thing on the news last night - the early warmth and dry weather makes for lots of air-born pollen this year. I hate it too.

I use a neti pot once a day for mine. It works great. I would feel funny when I took an allergy pill.

None for me but my kids take rhinocort and clariton.

took allergy shots for 10 years until I became resistant to them.

Switched to flonase about 10 years ago and it has worked great. I use the recommended dosage in the spring and fall and then cut it in half during the summer and winter months (when my allergies aren't as bad).

I am allergic to tree and grass pollen. The tree pollen has been bad this year.....

for non-prescription I use Chlor-Trimetion. they come in 4 hour and 12 hour doses (the 12 hour can be hard to find.) Anyway I like them better than Clariton since that makes my heart flutter.

Try to take something before heading outdoors, it needs to be in your system to prevent the attach.

I've had allergies as long as I can remember. tried everything under the sun to get rid of them too. Some works for a while, some doesnt. Some years arent too bad...some are horrible!

I also developed asthma due to a lifetime of allergies. Coulda done without that. At best, I can now breathe at about 60% capacity of someone my age, weight, etc.. Thats with an inhaler.....

My worst reactions are brought about by weather changes.Often, when rain or snow blow in,I'm sick right now. Conjunctivitis, sneezing, diahrea...you name it. Some triggers you can avoid...but the weather!! Of all my triggers, the weather is the only one thats thrown me into anaphylaxis too. Scary stuff!!

Sorry to vent...I'll shut up now.

I don't have allergies of any kind and am not allergic to anything. All the Spring pollen did to me was turn my grey truck yellow. But my wife is so I feel for anyone who does.
