Can the PS3 play HD-DVDs?, Voodish Articles.Last edited by SlipperyLilSuckers; Apr 7, '10, 11:59 PM.Comment

I bought a Samsung BD1590 and ran an ethernet cable to it. I stream Netflix with it just fine. Mine too has the "Wireless Ready" and Netflix setup, but I didn't want to spend the extra for the wireless adapter. I just ran the line from my router and it works great. Netflix is awesome.

Actually now that I think about it, I don't think a PS3 could play HD DVDs on a drive hooked up to it. It would need the software to actually play the discs, and I think such software that's out there only works with Windows (there may be versions for Macs too). I have a combo Blu-ray burner/HD DVD ROM drive in my computer, and it would not be able to play the discs without the proper software to run it. The PS3 is basically a computer yes, but it has it's own OS and that OS can't run Windows/Mac software.Comment
