My first field car was a 1976 AMC Pacer X. It was all "decked out" with a three speed manual transmission and an AM radio.

My first road car was a 1984 Ford Escort.

My first car was a 1969 Ford Mustang. When it was given to me at age 16 I had barely started auto shop in high school. Came straight from being stored in a chicken farm at my brothers father in laws house. Needless to say it was a piece when I first got it. Later on it become my first of many restored mustangs I have done. My parents got rid of it for $600 when I was 19. I was told that I was getting into to much trouble and that if I took over payments on my moms olds 91 that I would be more responsible. My wife still gives me crap because I took her friend out for a ride in it before I met her and she never got to get a ride in it. Hopefully if life willing I would return the favor and give my son a fully restored 69 Gt mustang for his 16th birthday. Its already in the works and time is catching up to me as he is already 12.

My first car was a 1976 V8 Ford Maverick. It used to be my grandparents car before they moved from NY to NJ to be closer to my parents because my grandmother finally couldn't drive anymore. Being young I simply didn't appreciate the car. Many people I knew in school were being bought new cars by their parents so I actually felt cheated. Plus, back then (1987) that 10 year difference was huge in how cars looked. Today you can have an 11 year old car that looks modern/new. I also (ironically given how much I value the past now) didn't appreciate the car's history having been the one my grandparents would take me & my cousins in to McDonald's when we would visit them.
I had the car until 1994. It had had frequent problems and my Mom was looking to get a new car so I got rid of it and got her old car, an '88 Eagle Premier which was the worst car EVER! I still have the original key to the Maverick as well as the original AM Radio somewhere.

LOL! My neighbor's had a field car. It was an old white station wagon. One day we decided it needed a paint job. All we had to paint with was lime green house paint and brushes. Just make it complete we painted a large red 43 on each side. Yes, it truly was a thing of beauty.

I painted mine black and white like a police car

I even hand stenciled the lettering and logos on the doors

I was 18...and my dad gave me his 67 AMC Marlin V8 four speed Batmobile...after graduating from high school...



I wish I could show original pictures...but they are all in photo albums in my mom's house down in Mexico.

Great car...until someone side-swiped me with a truck passing a red light...and damaged the entire engine compartment...was too expensive to repair...and the bloody insurance company only gave me $1500...the car had to be junked.

I was about 22-23 years when that happened...so I got to enjoy the car for about four-five years.

But I was going to hang on to that car...what a bummer...
