The picture on the website is a couple that was on "Wife Swap" or one of those type shows. My wife likes watching them and I am usually reading or doing something with the kids when a show that disinterests me like this is on.

I remember watching this episode because the pirate family seemed very strange to me. They live their entire lives dressed like and pretending to be pirates, they have no rules for their children so if they want to use languages that would make a real pirate blush, they're allowed to and their house looked like a disgusting mess.

I think the husband tries to scratch out a living as a want to be author of what else....pirate stories but they can't seem to make ends meat.

My guess is that this talk like a Pirate day is some publicity stunt to bring attention to this particular family.
