The problem I have with shipping outside USA is I don't trust the postal system and customs in any country including my own ...

I like to ship insured ... I tell this to my no-USA buyers and most are ok with that UNTIL they find out what the shipping price is (with insurance).

I also then tell them, I have no problem shipping without insurance BUT, if the package gets lost or stolen I don't assume any responsibility and the loss is theres ... This comment scares off a lot of buyers but I was just telling them how it is --- meaning they can't have it both ways.

I've had people ask for the cheapest shipping possible, but also still want my guarantee it will get to them ... I just can't do that.

The PM/Posting/buddy/outsideUS/whatever issue is one thing, and I am glad Gorn Captain brought this up,but still waiting for a paid item after 9 months?
Rik you are by far more patient than I.
You absolutely have the right to rant here.
Maybe the seller will wake up after seeing this.

Although I have got some tremendous deals from the folks here in the museum, and sold my first item ever, the museum is more about sharing a passion for me than buying and selling. I do however understand the point being made, even if I have never been struck by any sellers syndrome myself.

Other than getting scammed by a couple of newbies (probably the same person twice), my experience in the museum has been a real treat. What I initially thought would be nothing more than sharing a hobby with fellow enthusiast coupled with the occasional good deal, turned out to be a fellowship of friends who's generosity towards one-another goes far beyond simple toy collecting.

There may be some "buddy-system" buying and selling going on here; after all, a lot of us are friends. Maybe I am out-of-turn by saying this but it seems to me that the museum was never created to be an EBay style forum. So if someone wants to sell an item to a friend who expresses interest, despite being the fourth or fifth PM, who really cares. Like Jason (BK) said, the deals will come up again, and again, and again.

              I'll bring the beer!

I have to admit: I'm not a big buyer, but most of people here have shipped to Europe without a hitch, even when I was new here. I do realize and appreciate that a lot.
And I'm also here mainly to talk toys and movies, buying is not my main concern. Maybe if I bought more stuff, the negative stuff would seem less important.
OK, let's buy some stuff. What should I start with.....

Btw: in my 8 years buying on the net, I've only had two packages go missing in total. Not bad, IMO, for over 250 transactions, considering that one of those was from a scammer who probably never sent it...

I have had a couple crappy experiences, but MANY excellent transactions, some with members going out of their way to help me out, and those deals far out weigh any bad.

As for International shipping, I will do it. I don't really like to though, and get nervous when I do if the item isn't shipped Priority or Express, the reason being, if the item goes missing, then I am going to look like the bad guy, and that is the LAST thing I want on this board. I would hope by now people know I am honest, but there is always that chance something will go wrong, and the buyer will chastise me. If it is a pricey item, I will pretty much require that it ships in a way it can be tracked. I have had so many problems in the past on eBay with International bidders that I now STRICTLY ship Express Mail International, which is really expensive, but a lot safer, and I still get quite a few buyers and have had zero problems since.

I totally agree. I have no problem shipping outside the US. I just do not assume responsibility every country's respective postal system, including the US.

As far as PM's go for an item; it's first come, first serve. I look at time I received the PM, not who posted interest first in the marketplace thread, though typically it ends up being one in the same.

I have been fortunate enough to have had only wonderful experiences in the market place thread (buying and selling) and prefer it to eBay hands down.

For the most part, folks have been pretty fair to me in the marketplace, but a couple of folks (who shall remain nameless) have actually cheated me out of giveaways. I'm not really gonna moan about something that isn't gonna coast me anything, but if someone goes to the trouble of posting that they'll give something away for free, you get your hopes up that you'll get it, and then they don't deliver, it kinda sucks.

I've had the same thing happen to me. In my short time here, I've been a "winner" or is it weiner to 3 giveaways I did not get. One was cards, one was a figure, the other a poster. The figure was out of the country which the shipper actually responded to my pm's and showed the customs declaration form. The cards and poster, I never heard from them.
