    Craigslist scamming dilemma.

So sometimes when I sell something on craigslist, I get emails that seem scammy. They ask a question, then never respond to your answer, and then you look back and realize the question is so general and could have applied to any item in the forsale section.

And then you wonder - was this just a trick to get my email address for some spamlist trawler or just a flake or disinterested person?

So I'm right now selling something and I got an email from someone saying "Hi why are you selling this so cheap?". I'm trying to decide whether to respond or not. I don't want to miss a sale, but I'm leery of responding to this guy. I literally was about to hit send when I took a second thought about the question.

What would you do in my situation?

is there an option to reply via CL's server with your CL ID

if not you may want to consider a separate email account for using on sites known for spammers (facebook Cl ebay etc)

That's just what I was going to say. Start a new gmail account or something for stuff like that.

And I just noticed that the sender is 'Lawrence Mao', or LMAO. Yeah, pretty sure it's bogus. Especially since the next email I got told me my offering price was $25 bucks more than the one for sale at Sam's Club before lowballing me.

Sounds scammy. Glad you didn't respond back.

Yup - jds1911a1 and megoapesnut are 100% right. Gmail or hotmail is the way to go for sure! I use a hotmail account for anything I need to sign up to on the web - works like a charm. If I sold on craigslist regularly I would probably create a gmail account specifically for that. Why not? It's free!
