That's sad. So young too. I really enjoyed his Wheel of Time Series...at least as much as I could read of it.

They were really long books. I made it to Book 5.

      Rest in Peace Mr. Jordan.

Oh, that's terrible for him and his fans. I don't think he finished the series.

I recently became a fan of WoT (though I read a couple of his Conan novels back in the 80s), and I must say, I'm quite saddened by the news. My fiancee has been into WoT for 12 years, and weve been reading the books to each other for the last few months.

Jordan was an amazing man; served two tours in Vietnam, graduated from the Citadel, had a degree in physics and worked as a nuclear engineer before becoming a very convincing and visionary novelist. He was diagnosed with amyloidosis -- a form of cancer -- last year, and pledged to finish the last WoT book before his death. It hasn't happened that way, sadly; however, the reports are that he took copious notes and recordings of his ideas, and his wife, Harriet, was his copy editor and will probably finish the 12th book or at keast assist with its completion.

His time was short, but he touched and moved millions of people before it ended. By all accounts he was an irrascible, strong-willed, brilliant man. He will be missed even by those of us who knew him only through his work.

I came late to the series (I'm reading book four right now). He will be truly missed.
