Anyone else watching World War II in HD ?

My TV don't have HD, but i'm still watching the show.

My only complaint is them taking original footage and squeezing it down to make it fit in the 16.9 screen.
Makes everything look short and fat.

The show itself is quite good and I love seeing all the recently discovered color footage.

I even like the CGI animation.

    Anybody else watching ?

God, I hate when TV channels do that. Unfortunately they're catering to all the people out there who would complain if the footage didn't fill the whole screen on the HDTV but don't mind if the picture looks all distorted and squeezed.

Its a excellent show. I got so caught up in the stories.

Reminds me alot of when I was younger and my Uncles would sit around and talk about what they did in the war.

Think B.A. Where did you hide the Megos?

I watched it the first time they showed it on tv and it was great.

My father fought in the Korean War and saw serious action. He never wanted to talk about it and I'm pretty sure he suffered from post traumatic stress disorder. He was just a simple farm boy who got drafted and because of his excellent mechanic skills was assigned to an Army Engineering unit attached the Airforce. He served on the main base in Seoul where most of the planes would take off and return to in bombing raids, etc.

I did some research on his unit and apparently the North Koreans were constantly fighting for control of that air base...bombing it, kamkazi style attacks, snipers, etc. He did tell me that he had sentry duty and snipers constantly would try to take him out (he could hear the bullets just missing him). My mom told me that he told her there was a bazooka attack one night and the North Koreans hit the barracks right next to my dad's killing everyone inside. She also said that when he returned, they rented a house with a radiator that would occasionally pop. She said he would be dead asleep and if the radiator popped, he would roll off the bed and under it and still seem to be asleep. Otherwise, whenever I asked him questions, he would just say "it happened so long ago, I don't remember"....I'm very proud that he served our country even though he didn't volunteer or necessarily want to go.

haven't seen that one yet but want to check it out. I love that WWII stuff. can't wait for the new Spielberg/Hanks production The Pacific

did you see the special they had about sex in WWII? it was about the prositution issue in Hawaii during the war. Sailors lined up around the corner for a turn at the "poke"
