I remember the last time our water heater went out, we had to shell out almost $1100. I can't really remember. It was painful. Our wallet definitely shed a few tears.

We have 2 water heaters in our house, one on each side in the attic. The day we moved in one of them blew. It was 22 years old. The second blew just this past July. It was 28 years old. I'm just amazed yours lasted only 8 years.

I'm with Scott in showing amazement that your heater only lasted 8 years. I just replaced ours about 5 years ago, but the other one was original to our condo unit and was over 20 years old.

I was fortunate and had a friend with some soldering equipment and we were able to replace the water heater ourselves in about an hour. It's actually not as difficult as you might think as there's just 2 or 3 places that need soldering on a gas heater. Electric would be even easier. Heck, the hardest part was removing the old water heater!

$850? Holy crap. Go buy the heater yourself and have the plumber do the install.

I used to be a plumber. A hot h2o heater is pretty easy to install. Man wish you lived around here. I would definitely help you out. I have tank less now for about 5 years and it is the BEST!

ok so early this morning my buddy calls and tells me he spoke to his neighbor who is a plumber and he will be giving me a call....Turns out he has for me the sticker from another 50 gallon tank that expires in three months he already put the call in and told the company the tank was leaking and was already removed. I quickly call the other plumber and cancel my appointment….

It cost me $120.00 for delivery, I gave them a check and the sticker with the model # and my new plumber installed it for me for $250.00!!!

I now have a plumber for life!!! And my buddy has a steak dinner coming his way!

You have a good Mechanic, Doctor, Electrician or Plumber you better hold on to them and treat them good, there are so many people out there just waiting to rip you off!!

                    NICE!!!

I Totally Agree...Took me forever to find a good Mechanic... Every time I have to visit him, he gets the Old Italian Hand Shake.

They always remember after that 1st Hand Shake
