How long does it take for Paypal to process refunds? I'm waiting for a refund from something I bought and returned. I got an email saying that the seller had initiated my refund on Monday. But I've heard nothing else from Paypal, and my balance on the site is still $0. When I check my recent transactions, it just says that there's a pending refund from this person. I've never had payments(to me or to other sellers) take this long. Any idea how much longer I'll have to wait? I'm looking forward to treating myself

It's usually instant. If you paid for something else right after the refund it automatically takes whatever is in the balance first. Then the rest from whatever account you have set up. Don't know if that helps you or not. -
Mine are usually instant as well, maybe you should call them up"Time to nut up or shut up" -Tallahassee

I would give it 3-5 business days. The seller might have had to have money taken from their bank account and it takes a while to moving it through the banking system rather than credit card."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

Plus, if the seller sent you money instead of "refunding it, you have to accept the payment. More than likely it is what Adam West says about 3 - 5 business days if it is coming from another acct. Does it say payment pending?sigpicComment

Was this a refund the seller gave you without a paypal dispute? If so it should be quick, usually instant even when using a bank account.
If this is a refund due to a dispute that went in your favor then it makes sense. The seller doesn't have any money in the account so paypal can't get it for you yet.Comment

Teach, I hope you didn't think I was questioning you in any way. I know you sent the refund, because I got an email saying you had started the process. I was just wondering how long it took Paypal to process these things - I received payments from them before, just never a refund.
Incidentally, the refund showed up in my account about half an hour ago. And thanks again for understanding, Teach.Hey! Where's the waiter with the water for my daughter?

If it is coming from a checking account, they consider it an "e-check" which Paypal always waits a few days to clear. It takes up to a week before Paypal releases the funds to me when people pay for items that way, so I presume it works the same way in reverse.
