Hate to throw another wrinkle into the mix, but Hughie Thomasson of The Outlaws has to be mentioned somewhere. Anybody ever listen to Green Grass and High Tides? Might be one of the best, if not THE best guitar solo EVER.

okay warrior, some of them I have never even heard of and I consider myself a rock aficianado......and some of them i would never consider a rock god. Agreed we should have had Townsend and Gilmour on there and Alex Lifeson and Brian May as well. I would even add Prince to the list believe it or not, the guy is an amazing guitarist. What about Steve Howe? Angus Young? Joe Perry? Neil Shon?
