Yeah...but Paul is the only knighted Beatle.

        Sir McCartney to you.

Interviewer: At the end of the song Elizabeth Reigns—which is a balanced view of the queen and company—you say, “Well, there goes me knighthood”.

Starr: There goes me knighthood—yes, I think it has gone, well and truly...

Interviewer: Does that bother you at all?

Starr: No, I don’t want to be a Sir. I want to be a duke or a prince. If they come through with that, I’ll consider it

          LOL

I had picked up the 2006 all-starr band CD last summer and was listening to it quite a bit. Good for him. I wonder if he will sign his name in the cement since he doesn't do autographs anymore. lol

Edited: ooops the cement thing is not the star, my bad

It always amazes me when certain people don't already HAVE a star....I surprised at Ringo just getting one and McCartney not having one yet.....

I am sure McCartney has been invited to get one....thing is the celebrity has to pay for it themselves and Paul probably figures what the hell does he need it for.

The thing about the celebrity having to pay for it themselves may be true in some cases, but certainly not the bulk of them...

More often than not, when someone gets a star on the Walk of Fame it's bought and paid for but usually by film studios, PR men, and the like, not the recipient... You'll see a lot of them getting their star when they have a big movie to promote and getting the WOF star is just additional press/PR to draw attention to their project...

OK. I know this is going to **** someone off and I want to start off by making this clear. My intent to post this is not to **** off, put any hidden meanings or urk "certain members" on this board.
But, this is my opinion and I stand strongly against my opinion.

OK. The Beatles to me are John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.
I believe John Lennon was the master mind. He originally filled the group with the music and fun that created the group the Beatles.

When he was introduced to McCartney he was reluctant to work with him but once he found out that McCartney could play (and in a book I read. Lennon who was self-conscious believed McCartney at that time may have been better then him.)

John Lennon was very poor back then. He had a beat up guitar with a twine rope for a guitar strap. Bringing McCartney into his band was the idea he decided because the rest of the group was horrid.

Lennon was the "fun guy". He used to change the lyrics around back then to classic rock n roll songs to fit the theme of the place they were playing.
When Lennon and McCartney came together it was like the meeting of the Gods (forgive my wording bible bangers. It is just words to me, nothing on a weirder level).

Lennon and McCartney became best friends. According to John's Aunt MiMi the two would be up in John's room for hours practicing vocal harmonies over and over. That would become the ticket to the band later known as the Beatles was McCartney and Lennon's beautiful way they found to harmonize together and work well musically.

Of course later through McCartney, they brought in George Harrison. As McCartney said was because of Harrison's ability to play the song Raunchy which impressed Lennon.
The rest is history...I am sure most of you know the Staurt Sutcliffe, Peter Best stories all the way to Ringo Starr.

...and of course the Beatles became larger then life. Becoming one of the greatest rock n roll bands in history. There has been nothing as big as them (nor I believe there ever will).

Why did Ringo Starr get a star? Well, he transitioned from musician to actor and made several films (some not the greatest LOL) What a lot of people don't know is Ringo Starr was the first to score a few hits as a solo artist. Many of Ringo's solo albums through the 70's feature Lennon, Harrison and McCartney. It was a 'mini" Beatles reunion on several of his albums.
Though the music was tracked at different times, this is a close as you will get.

All though there are several people and studios claiming they have "Beatles jams" of Lennon, Harrison, McCartney and Starr rehearsing for a "come back".. in 73...most of it turned out to be a farce.

But Paul McCartney as great as a musician as he is. He is the only one of the Beatles left along with Ringo Starr).
The Beatles knew that John Lennon was the main key song writer, that is why they chose two of his songs to add music to when they reunited such as "Free As A Bird" and "Real Love" in 1995 when they put together the classic Anthology movie and CD collection.

The Beatles actually had 9 songs they were working. Three were new ones written by McCartney, Starr and Harrison, they were tossed out...why? Because no John Lennon (smart move)

The other songs were Lennon demos that were tossed out because it was hard to hear Lennon's voice except the two I mentioned above.
The one that should have been there was

"Grow Old With Me" where the original recording appeared on Lennon's Milk and Honey which Yoko later added an orchestra. Harrison withdrew the idea of "Grow Old with Me' because he felt it was inappropriate to say that with John Lennon being dead.

So, which brings me to my main thought. John Lennon was the brains, talent and movement of the Beatles. His only music flop (as critics say) is when he vanished from the scene in the mid to later 70s to help raise his son Sean and give his son something he never had (John's father was a merchant Seeman who abandoned him as a boy).

McCartney is talented. Some of the now classic Paul McCartney and the Wings songs are now classics but McCartney is not nor will he ever be John Lennon.

Sadly, John Lennon's death may have put Paul McCartney further up the ranks as a performer and an artist. McCartney really was just an average musician back then with a few one liners and some "hits".

McCartney never really embraced The Beatles songs in his live catalog until years later after Lennon's death. Almost as to "cash in" and by putting the Beatles songs in his setlist he has brought the majority of the Beatles fans to him (because they know there will never be a Beatles reunion and this is the closest they will get, even so now with George Harrison gone).

John Lennon to me was my hero. Everything about him was amazing. He stood for peace, love and everything people were afraid to talk about. Lennon didn't care. Though his revolutionary type approach he took in the later years may or may not have crippled his career, he will always be the driving force behind the Beatles....why? Because he didn't sing "Yesterday"

Some "Fan" created this after the Anthology came out. It features "The Beatles" performing "Free As A Bird" it is the closest as we will ever get to seeing the Beatles live.

                          This is cute.
