Unless the kid had a carded Iron man or something of the like NO! No matter how old a toy is it's still a toy ,meant for a child's enjoyment. I hate anything related to this mentality. I think I've told the story before about how years ago I was in Toys R' Us. Some gUy was grabbing up Hasbro Speeder Bikes apparently thinking they'd be worth something. In the background was an upset child who wanted one. His mother was visibly perturbed not at the child but that this grown man was taking them all. Since I was standing right next to the guy, I grabbed one before the guy could get them all and he said to "you want one?' as if I was committing a crime. I Gave the guy a glare of death as a reply and he walked away. Luckily the child and his mother had only gone into the next aisle so I walked over there and handed it to the mother who thanked me.

Absolutely. Back in 1990 I made the mistake of telling a guy holding a garage sale that a box of GI Joe stuff he had was worth around $100 based on prices I'd seen a dealer (Cotswold Collectibles) sell for. He looked at me and said "So I've got at least 200 bucks here, huh?" as scooped everything up. "They're not for sale," he said.

Years ago I was in Village comics in NYC. I was looking through some figures and happened to see The Maxx figure from McFarlane toys. I was about to reach for it when this kid came out of nowhere and grabbed it and said Oh i want this. I mutterd under my breath....Darn bleep bleep bleep.......

The kid then began to hesitate and whine and tell his mom I don't know if I want this or something else......I stood off to the side waiting for my moment...I have one rule. If you don't want it and you put it back...once it hits that peg ALL IS FAIR GAME. (he was about 11 years old not a little kid)

No sooner he said naaaaw i don't want it he put it back and walked away. MINE!!!!
Took it and spun away....I then hear the Whiney Kid then tell his Mom he changed his mind again and wanted the figure as I paid for the figure and walked away.....I heard his mom tell him I keep telling you to stop changing your mind so much see you lost out...
I still have the figure to this day.......

Seemingly cruel...but I'd say its a GOOD "life lesson" he'll not soon forget.

I wouls try to negotiate with the kid or his parents. If they will not comply things may get ugly. Seriously if the kid gets his hands on a item before myself it's rightfully his in all intents.
