Student In Trouble For Bringing Gun To School... Lego-Sized Gun

A principal nearly suspended a kid for violating the school's weapons policy for bringing a toy gun to school. BUT THE GUN IS ONLY 2-INCHES LONG!!!

Fortunately, the district got involved and told the principal to dial it down a bit.

      HAW!

I remember a lot of cluelessness like this when I was a kid. Went a long way towards cultivating my distrust of authorities, and general iconoclastic nature.

When my son was in high school he got detention for aiming a tape gun at another student.

When I was in school we were allowed to bring in 6-shooters for recess western play

The only thing not allowed were caps ..... Cap guns were fine, just no caps.

I remember the time I got detention for shooting a guy in the leg in math class. Talk about your overreaction. I mean, c'mon, I just grazed him.

You get detention for drawing a picture of a gun in elementary school now.

My 7th grade teacher (a really cool guy who looked like Grizzly Adams) used to keep a pop-gun rifle leaning under his desk.

Sometimes he'd play with it during class --- never pointed it anyone though

I haven't laughed at an intentionally funny Mego Museum post in a long time.

The principal should have put the gun in the "summer box." That's what one of my kid's teacher does. Items that go in the summer box aren't returned until the last day of school.

thank God it was "almost suspended" and someone stepped in. Still the level of irrational stupidity by people in charge is scary.

it's like everything in this country, someone makes a rule, even a good one like no guns in school... and some dip**** beaurocrat takes it to the extreme. this is not the first time this exact scenario has occurred since the Columbine shootings. I have seen news articles in the paper with exactly this type of story many times since 1999
i would call the administrator out on it if they tried that with one of my kids

                            Gun

Unbelievable! I understand the sensitivity of the issue, given the terrible tragedies at Columbine and Virginia Tech to name two, but yeesh! This wasn't even a "gun", just a 2-inch plastic toy replica of a gun! Megotu may not be that far off with his comment about getting detention for drawing a picture of a gun !
