Big snow being predicted for my neck of the woods

Apparently, Maryland is supposed to get 12-20 inches of snow this weekend. The worst thing is that we always do our grocery shopping on the weekends, so we'll be joining the milk, bread and TP crowd.

Anyone else live in a land where snow puts the area in a total panic? Is it just here? I know Toystalker had the post where it had snowed for the first time in about 8 years. But here, we get a snow every year and everyone still panics. I won't exactly be going out and driving around for the fun of it, but for some folks to act like meteors are going to be falling from the sky.....
    It's all good!

Here in ther Poconos (PA) most people expect it and deal with it.

We do have a few dumbies that think 4 wheel drive means drive 90 miles an hour -- but I guess all places have their fools.

20 inches! wow is it on its way to the uk

we had like 2-4 inches here and the place came to a complete stand still... councils running out of road grit and all that good stuff

20 inches wow there would be riots and looting in the streets here

If we get 1/2 inch the city will close. I kid you not. But to be fair we are just not equiped to deal with snow since we don't have snow plows. All they do is dump sand and make a bigger mess. Of course the other thing is people here do not know how to drive in snow, no matter how deep.

Last year we had a nasty one that dropped about 3 foot of snow with 4 foot drifts.
If that wasn't enough, the first 5 inches was packed snow mixed with sleet.

Pain in the behind trying to dig out the car

Even the local ski lodges weren't happy about that one

Yeah, here in south central PA we're slated to get 7-10 , 12-18 or 12-24 depending on which weather forecast you believe.

I hate snow, but I have to say that I love my snowblower every time I use it. Push button electric start and it does my 150' driveway in three or four passes.

We have been getting some in Michigan, but not nearly as much as I expected before I got here. It's so pretty, and peaceful, I love it.

Wowzers! Here's a question for you UnderdogDJLSW - How long does it take Maryland road crews to remove that kind of snow? Believe it or not, in Louisville, two inches of snow can close local schools...no joke. Sad but true.

                            Snow-Lack of

We usually get lots of up here, but seems since I bought a snow-blower around Christmas the snow is not coming.
Similar thing last summer bought a pool, seemed summer was over beginning of July.
                            Strange weather.

To be honest over a foot is not that usual for this area, but the road crews do a fairly good job. There's just not enough money budgeted for it as there would be, say as, in Michigan. Speaking of which, what part of the state are you in, Cat? My wife has some family that lives near Grand Rapids.
                              It's all good!
