David Brown RIP

David Brown was a big time producer who gave Steven Spielberg his start with Sugarland Express and even when SE didn't perform well still had enough faith to let Steven do JAWS.

He also produced many more movies such as Cocoon, Driving Miss Daisy, A Few Good Men and Deep Impact.

David Brown was 93.

Bummer. I saw all of his interviews on the various Jaws DVD's I own and he struck me as a very professional and likable gentleman. Hollywood has lost a good one.

I was lucky enough to have met and have worked in a small way with Mr. Brown on a couple of projects, and he was a true gentlemen. When I sent out letters to everyone in town that I was starting my own business, he was the ONLY ONE who responded. His letter was typed on a typewriter (he didn't do e-mail), and hand signed. I will never forget his kindness.
