I was wondering if anybody collects movie posters. I have a bunch I was thinking about trying to sell. Lots of stuff from 2002 to 2008. Mostly the earlier years.

My borther used to be an avid movie poster collector. He moved to a small apartment in California a year or so ago. I don't know if he still has them or not. My guess would be that he sold them when he moved as he doesn't have near the room he at his house. I'll check with him though, just in case. -
I collect movie posters, mainly between 1950-1980.
Years ago, my Dad and I visited a guy who had owned a small movie theatre. He was selling off tons of old posters, including original Creature from the Black Lagoon, etc.
He asked...50 cents each.
I bought a bunch, but we didn't had a lot of money to spend. Could have made a fortune now.....

Working at movie theatres for so many years I hada bunch. Favorites I got from the theater were True Stories, Captain America teaser, Rocketeer.
my two favorite posters for the artwork alone are Creepshow and King kong.
I used to really be into half sheets and started with Swamp Thing but eventualy had Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Love half sheets. I guess because the remind me of Aurora or GI Joe boxes in shape.
I would like to get "The night God Screamed" killer title.Comment

I love movie posters, but I just don't have the money to get into it too much.
A tale of woe:
When I was a kid I saved up my own money to buy and frame a Raiders of the Lost Ark original poster. 5 years ago I decided to reframe it and left it at the frame shop - they called me back because they said they couldn't get it out of the old frame - the original framer COVERED the entire back of it with pieces of scotch and masking tape. I have no idea why. Sigh - it's something I will have to repurchase someday.Comment

I have a small collection....nothing real valuable or anything...just stuff I wanted to frame and hang on the wall.
I do have an original Empire Strikes Back poster which I think I paid about $40 for years ago when Lucas Studios found a whole bunch of them and decided to sell them off. Probably not worth more than I paid for it."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

funny, at dinner tonight I was thinking about starting a "what's your favorite movie poster" thread.
so, thread hijacked, this is now a "what's your favorite..." thread....
I'm going with original 30's frankenstein and dracula, just too classic to not love.Comment

Man I used to have some sweet posters back in the day.My Mom and Dad used to own two video stores back in the VHS hay day and did I ever get some good ones.
They were friends with some people who owned a theatre so it was a ridiculous amount of posters no matter how I looked at it.
Some of my personal favs were;
Star wars
The Duke
Battlestar Galactica
First Blood
The Lone Ranger
The Terminator
Frankenstein
The thing about these posters is back then they were really thick like a real poster not like nowadays, thin pathetic paper things.“When you say “It’s hard”, it actually means “I’m not strong enough to fight for it”. Stop saying its hard. Think positive!”Comment
