Help! or Hard Days Night ... which movie do yo prefer ?

Most reviewers hold A Hard Days Night very high on their favorite movies list but Help! usually only makes it about mid high ... Help! usually gets a "good movie" review while A Hard Days Night is usually "Excellent" or "One of the best Rock and Roll movies of all time"

I have nothing against A Hard Days Night -- as a matter of fact I like it a lot, but I would say Help! was much better.

My poll is, between the 2 which do you prefer ? .......

I like HDN a lot cause it was shot in Black and white and it gives you an idea how Beatlemania was. I liked all the small Jokes going on especially who's that little Old man he looks Clean bit. Everytime this movie came on Channel 5 in new York I went nuts and wanted no one to bother me while i watched it.

Help is good and has it's funny moments....KALI-LI!!!!!!! I also always like the scene when they were in disguise and looked like their later versions.

I think HDN is the better film as it is allmost a document of the time.

Help is great to watch though.

I think the answer to this question may be both.

              A HDN I like the B&W.

Conceptually I thought HDN was better and it certainly captured their charm and appeal during those early years.

I'm leaning more towards A Hard Day's Night. Help! is pretty good but feels more like an episode of the Monkees.

I like them both, as well, but prefer A Hard Day's Night. Help has some really funny stuff, but also gets too 60's on me. I'm not a big fan of 60's comedies.

I always liked Help better when I was a kid, but now my tastes have changed a bit and I like the subtle humor in HDN and feel it is the stronger move, now. Still enjoy both, though.
                          It's all good!

I agree with everyone here.. I LOVE 'Help!' for what it is.., I've always liked it in a way more that HDN, it just comes down to style and what you're looking for.

HDN has a great sense of synergy that really comes off the screen well.., it really, effectively draws you in to the excitement, a snapshot of a key critical phenomenon back in the early 60s, along with some wonderfully dry, smug humor and a cool observation of the entertainment industry and success at that time.

'Help!' is different in terms of style, great photography, stylish story-telling, but a bit silly and trite by the time the ending's reached. Still, it has a 'bigger' epic feel for a nice relaxing Sunday afternoon watch with friends, wine, etc. Comparing it to HDN is in a way unfair, since it's different film styles, and it will detract from 'Help!' qualities overall.

And it's NOT a remake of HDN, which was a big objective for Lester at the time.

The ONLY HUGE GRIPE I have is that the studios trashed all the out-take footage from 'Help!' in '66 by accident when they were clearing out the archives. Per Lennon's comments, they were the best stuff..

Help! had some great comedic touches -- "Go to the Window!" -- but I'm really surprised that the PC Police haven't labeled it as being intolerant due to its send-up of Hinduism and the Thug Cult surrounding Kali.

                              Oh... Those Filthy Eastern Ways!

A Hard Days Night is a great running gag, and every time I watch it I find something new. The supporting cast were incredible -- especially Wilfrid Brambell.

I'll go with A Hard Days Night. For tonight, at least.
