    >A bunch of morons and a tired an unfunny story versus a decent cast dealing with a controversal heartfelt issue back at the time.

I dunno.... both of 'em are kinda silly. Now; "My Mother the Car?" THERE'S classic television!

Yeah I THINK Courtship was silly. Can't remember now. I guess I'll never know

Batman and Courtship. Of course I would have to be a fan of the ONLY two shows not released on DVD.

Bixby showing how to deal with being a dad vs Denver being an idiot.
Your brain is what you feed I always say.
Not sure how a single dad was controversial TV back then, Andy Grffith, Bachelor Father and I am sure others that escape me already covered it. Gilligan was good escapist slapstick, sorry your world has to be so serious.

Gilligan is one of the many shows I loved as a kid but cannot watch today.

It's a great show in the Laurel and Hardy fashion, but I just can't sit through it anymore.

I saw that, but I didn't buy it. I had already bought those two seasons for my dad. I didn't even think to get them from myself! I loved Gilligan when I was a kid. My dad and I watched it together. After I got a bit older, he'd always ask "Why didn't they just kill him?"

Target had some insane deals on DVDs. I saw Filmation Flash Gordon and Defenders of the Earth DVD sets for $5. I picked up a DVD player for $25.

I have nly seen the pilot one time.

I believe it's at the beginning of the first episode, just for the record here are the names because I have far too much useless information rolling around in my brain.

              Skipper Jonas Grumby
              Professor Roy Hinckley
              Mary Ann Summers
              Ginger Grant (d'oh)
              Thirstan & Lovey Howell

and Gilligan's first name was never revealed on the show, but Sherwood Schwartz has said on many occasions that his first name was Willie short for William.

Hey all! I live in Mexico. Can one of you go to Target before Monday and let me know anything of interest there? I am going to Laredo Texas on Monday. Would LOVE to have Gilligan's island for $15! And anything else vintage on DVD.

I used to love Gilligan, (and the cartoon too!). For some reason, their "Hamlet" performance has stuck w/ me over the years. I know part of one of the songs and I haven't seen it since I was little:
"Be not a borrower nor a lender be
Do not forget, stay out of debt
Think twice and take this good advice from me
                  (forgot next line)
There's just one other thing you ought to do
To thine own self be true."

And for the record, I love The Courtship Of Eddie's Father. Bill Bixby was one of the best.
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
