    Your scariest moment ever!

Mine happened when I was about 17.
I needed surgery in my lower abdomen.
The head nurse told me I had to have a "clean shave of the area". Great...

So here I am, in a hospital gown, and this younge trainee nurse comes in.
She was about my age, I think.
"I've never done this before", she says.
"Me neither", I reply, my voice rising a pitch or two.

Then she gets out this straight razor.
Her hand was shaking harder than a tree during Hurricane Katrina.
Can there be anything more awkward, than two young people (I hadn't even kissed a girl then), the boy naked, and the girl holding a lethal weapon.

I was deathly white, she was flushed red.
Together, we made a pretty convincing Ronald McDonald.

When it was over, she left the room without saying anything.
After inspection, I was still intact. Whew!

And that's it. My very own "Shaving Ryan's Privates".....

Believe me, "arousal", was the last thing on my mind.
      "Survival", more likely...

Ah man AWESOME story! I went to get my teeth cleaned as a teen wearing sweatpants. The hygenist was HUGE busted and the dental tray was across from me so she had to slide over my face. I couldnt breath but I didnt move. Except for my sweatpants.

COme on she HAD to know what she was doing.

I cant compare dude. I came close to dying a few times. ( last time the knowledge I gained from playing video games actually saved my life, I'll only tell the story if someone asks) Still not as scary as yours. Why couldn't they just let you shave yourself? Straight razors freak me out. AH ! I'm going to have your nightmare tonight I know it!

I had back surgery over five years ago. I was in pain. No longer had working bowel movements, one leg shrivelled up,hadnt been able to walk in six months, I was going to get cut open like a Ventriloquist dummy. 10 percent chance I woulndt be able to walk again if the surgery failed. .

Even as they gassed me and wheeled me down the hall my biggest fear I kept pleading was " no cathader please! No cathader!"

When we got Noriega in 89" I was there. I was offloading supplies when 3 shots from a sniper snapped past my head. I grabbed my weapon and ducked behind a concrete obstruction. I look over and the sniper hit my buddy in the chest and he was bleeding out. I had to run out, grab Joe, and pull him behind the concrete block. I did it with bullets flying and almost peed my pants. I shot back numerous times and finally the situation resoled itself. After getting Joe to the hospital I broke down. I didn't have time to be scared earlier so my emotions showed later. Joe is still a friend today. Lucky sucker got out of the Air Force with an 80% disability and gets paid for the rest of his life. He is fine today and works at a casino.

I would have to say hearing that my mom had cancer. It was like my life just stopped. And strangely enough, it was worse than her actual death, b/c at that point, it was just relief that the suffering was over.

              I you Mom!

I think for me; it was my son (now 15) breaking his arm when he was 7 years old.

He was flipping off a jungle gym and landed on his arm breaking both bones clean through. I have a pretty strong stomach....I don't have any problems seeing real life blood or any graphic bodily mutilations that you might see on TLC or in real life.

I can still remember the orthopedic surgeon having to place a live x-ray machine as his arm was dangling and trying to keep my son calm as he literally had to snap the bones back in place. That really didn't bother me. It was the screams of agony coming from my son and him begging the doctor to stop. He was heavily sedated and put in what the doctor called a sort of twilight sort of sedation...he was conscious and he was given serious anesthetics but he still cried out in pain like he was dying.

It was the first time in my life, I could feel myself starting to pass out....again not from watching the bones being snapped back but listening to my son cry out in so much agony as I was watching what was going on. I stepped out of the room and splashed water on my face and laid down a few minutes to get the blood flowing back to my brain.

It was so horrible watching my child go through such agonizing pain and I could do nothing about it.....it is the experience in the world.

Luckily, he was young enough that his bones fused back together after a very long time in a cast and some physical therapy. The doctor told me if this had happened to an adult, it would have required surgery, steel pins and a lifetime of arm issues.

                      Have a few

Growing up in the south lived through my share of twisters. The super outbreak of 73 and the F5 of 89

When I was 18 we had a terrible ice storm. I saw 3 guys on one sled go headfirst into a tree. I will never forget the sound they made hitting the tree. The hardest part was getting help up the hill to rescue them. Seeing a fire truck slide backward down a hill is not a pretty sight.

Right after my daughter was born she was hospitalized with RSV

When my Dad and Mom had open Heart bypasses.

                        Thought of another one...

Due to complications with his birth my youngest son Damian took 13 minutes to start breathing...

                          1) Both my parents having cancer.

                          2) My brother being in a car with a drunk driver and getting in a wreck.

                          3) Me having a ruptured appendix and having emergency surgery.

                          4) When I was about 6 or 7 we were traveling through Arizona on our way to California (my Dad had just been transfered being in the Air Force). My Mom was driving at the time (they had just bought it) when we blew a tire, flipped and rolled several times landing upside down in the middle of the desert. I don't know how but all of us just had cuts and bruises.

Mine was also being held up at gunpoint. It was X-ms eve of 2003 and My ex , late brother in law Kris (R.I.P.) and I were at a stop light on Westford St. in Lowell Ma. on our way to my ex mother in laws house. There was a car in front of us and a line of cars behind us. 2 guys walked up to both sides of the car and pointed guns. They told us to get out of the car , so I'm thinking this is a car jacking. While people watched and did nothing they took both our wallets and a bag of x-mas gifts from the back seat of the car and then took off. Very Scary stuff.....One of the guys was arrested about 2 weeks later for something else and was in possession of Kris' I.D. We I.D'd him and as far as I know he is still in Concord State......Never got any of the presents back!
