Well techincally Watford is calling.. I have now booked my first official business trip and it's gonna be a yankee invasion of England... never been on an official business trip before so this should be fun..

why it couldn't be in a warmer time but oh well, I'm heading to Watford on the 31st of the month for a weeks visit to our TJX offices over there.. yahooo..

who knows of a good place to get some decent food in the Watford area?

Never been to Watford, but if your going in through Heathrow, I hope you get a chance to see London. I was shocked to find that London (not the city..its massive, but the area) itself was pretty small and all the touristy stuff is mostly in a pretty close area. I took one of those pay one price for all day tour bus deals and was able to see a ton of stuff in an afternoon! you can get on and off the buses as you please, or stay on for awhile and listen to the host do their speal. I took one run around to see where everything was, then went on my own.

The breakfast the hotels put out over there are amazing too! Enough food to last you all day!!

Whatever you do, just don't eat beef ... If i'm remembering right they don't have the same standards the FDA has for screening for madcow.

Might be different now, but I still wouldn't take a chance.

I think they screen the cows every 3 months now and have a quicker test for the results.

Riffster you might want to check out the country pubs for nice food.

i know of a great vintage toy shop

its called 80s toyshop

its just down the road

well...

2 hours 40 mins drive down the road but the shop owner makes you feel very welcome

That brings up a question I always wondered .....

If somebody from the US visits England and then wants to go to Wales (and vice versa) do they have to get their passport stamped again through customs ? ... Or is like traveling from state to state here ?

But we do have to pay to cross into Wales from the UK if you go across the 2 bridges

you can travel around the uk no passes need

i can understand why you would ask though

i once drove up through wales into england and into scotland in 1 day

no passport control

however the only place i did need passport was traveling to northern ireland which is uk but you cant get to it by road so i flew and as expected in any airport customs and passport control was in force

in the south where cardiff and watford is the only thing is theres a toll bridge to cross... free to enter to england but you have to pay to return to wales

so yeah you can drive around uk no issues only passports needed if you fly
