I saw Young Guns II the other day (again)...and was intrigued by the story of the guy who claimed to be Billy the Kid so I did some research into the story.
In 1948 during a routine inheritance settlement a paralegal was discovered that his elderly client "Joe Hines" was really the notorious outlaw "Jesse Evans" of the Jesse Evans gang....an acquaintance of Billy the Kid. Evans told him that Billy the Kid was alive and living in Texas.
One thing led to another and the paralegal went to texas to meet the guy. He denied it at first but then admitted he was Billy the Kid and showed proof of it. There are some books on the subject. Pretty interesting if your into the Old West or history.
I'm starting to believe that the old guy that claimed to be Billy the Kid was pretty credible.
