    Man...first he gets paralyzed in a horrid car accident back in the 80s...then gets colon cancer eight months ago...what a sad ending to this great soul singer.

      He was definitely one in a million!!

      That's sad. He was an original, inventive singer whose distinctive and soulful voice can be easily recognized through a lot of other artists.
      He will be sadly missed with plenty of recordings left behind to remember him.
