"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
I loved Gumby as a kid but it was Eddie Murphy's version that craked me up I'm Gumby Dammit! I also loved Davey and Goliath which was also part of my childhood
I found 4 volumes of davey & goliath DVD at the dollar store a couple years ago. Great to be able to watch them again. The kids still loved them too.

I bought a Gumby at an auction when I was real little. I didn't understand the concept of auctions at the time...just bid my whole five bucks bam (which was a huge amount for me at the time) but gee I loved that Gumby.
CAPTAIN NOAH was the host of an early morning show
---well, that's where I saw the bulk of anything GUMBY related.
Yes, there was Eddie Murphy's GUMBY which I thought was
pretty cool I guess (Andy Kaufman's friend Bob Zmuda
commented on how supportive he and andy were of Murphy's Gumby
while visiting rehearsals before his debut).
Christopher Guest (once an SNL regular himself) was also a GUMBY fan
and if you have the full unedited footage of the 1984 classic
THIS IS...SPINAL TAP, you can see that his NIGEL TUFNEL character
is a GUMBY fan as well, carrying a figure around for many scenes that
were ultimately edited out of the final original cut of the movie.

"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix
How sad. I have a Gumby tattoo. Art will be missed. I bought some flexible sculpey to make some custom Gumby and gang stuff about a year ago and haven't started using it yet. He made a lot of people happy. My daughter loved Gumby when she was a little.
