If you could change one NFL rule...

    what would it be?

My choice would be that the only penalty that gives an offense an automatic first down is a personal foul. All other penalties would only net a first down if the yardage of the penalty dictates it. So if the offense needs 8 yards to get a first down and it's illegal contact (5 yard penalty) - no first down. This one frustrates me more than anything. 3rd and 20, and a 5 yard illegal contact penalty gives the offense an automatic first down. It ain't right!!!

another one that bugs me is a 10 yard penalty for holding on the offense and only 5 yards if the defense does it. I think it should be 5 yards only, especially since some calls are very subjective. Save the 10 yarders for tripping and hands to the face and that crap.

Yeah, that would be my second choice for rule changes. I like the college OT setup.

Every Questionable Call, should be reviewed. I don't give a Damn if it would make the Game Take too Long ..., Way to many Teams Win these Day's because of them. If the Stripes can't get them right,.. then they Should start Getting Fired like Coaches.

a lot of people don't know but if you blow calls as a ref, you will get less games and you won't be picked to officiate the play-offs, only the best refs get chosen to the SB

I'd like a stat distinction between an interception and a tipped ball.

An interception would be a ball caught by the opposing team directly off the QB's throw.

Once another player - offensive or defensive - touches it, it should no longer penazile the QB's stat as an INT - it's a tipped or deflected ball.

that's good, I agree, just like if you get passed interference called on the guy covering you, you should get those yards counted on both the QB and the WR

All good ones guys. On a smaller scale, I don't think I should be unsportsman like conduct to throw the ball in the stands after a touchdown. Dude should have to pay for the ball, that's it.

I think I would like to see some changes with the roughing the Quarterback rule some calls are way to ticky take for me (example if someone is rushing the QB and he gets rid of the ball how is a defensive player supposed to stop in mid air and not run into the QB)also the in the grasp rule (some of these QB's can break a tackle from time to time) and being able to throw the ball away (Come on now your a pro in the game if you can't get the ball near one of you recievers you should have to run the ball or take the lost yardage)

Especially something like that so called "touchdown" during tonight's Jets/Bengals game.

Change one rule? hmmmmmmm, Loose the helmets and see what happens. I suppose everyone would immediately be crippled and it wouldn't be much fun.

                              Not four...
