    Kraftwerk

    Kraftwerk
    (via Wikipedia)
Kraftwerk (German: power plant or power station, German pronunciation: [ˈkʁaftvɛɐk]) is an influential electronic band from Düsseldorf, Germany. The signature Kraftwerk sound combines driving, repetitive rhythms with catchy melodies, mainly following a Western classical style of harmony, with a minimalistic and strictly electronic instrumentation.

The group's simplified lyrics are at times sung through a vocoder or generated by computer-speech software. Their songs are chiefly in a mix of German and English, with some French and other languages. Several of their albums are available as separate English and German language editions, whereas others intentionally present a mix of languages.

In the early to late 1970s and the early 1980s, Kraftwerk's distinctive sound was revolutionary for its time, and it has had a lasting impact across many genres of modern popular music.

Love Kraftwerk. Influenced many genres of music including Hip Hop, Techno, Industrial and many new sub-genres.
Two other bands that have mad impact are NEU! and Silver Apples.
                So much earcandy.
Their live setup is so perfect. Four men with four laptops. Minimalism rocks!!

Fans of The Big Lebowski will recognize Kraftwerk as the inspiration for the fictitious band "Autobahn".

I love Computer World... listened to it a lot during my surly teen years.

Kind of drove me nuts when I first heard Coldplay's song Talk because I knew the riff from somewhere... because they licensed it from Kraftwerk's song Computer Love.

More of a Ultravox/Midge Ure fan myself:

                          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKw7_lkiz5U

Ultravox is selling out all over Europe with their Return To Eden tour...makes me wish I was anywhere in the UK/Europe. I know they won't tour here in the US. Saw Midge here in the US on his solo acoustic tour...Amazing.
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
                          The beauty that surrounds them
                          Isn't it a pity".

Prefer their really early Krautrock stuff myself......

                            Kraftwerk 1 is a masterpiece.

In and amongst the drilling sounds and experimentation there is some amazing music.

                            Like that? Try Neu.....

                            Very similar music.
"I should say I`m very much cleverer than any of the people who put me here. As a matter of fact, I could leave any time I wanted. It`s only a doll`s house after all. Anyway, I don`t mind. I like dolls" - The Mad Hatter, Arkham Asylum.

Loved their music, They were a big influence on the New Romantic/New Wave movement of the late 70's early 80's

Also a Big influence on Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran who's synth play is what gave DD2 it's distinctive sound......
