BTW...that freshman played as well as he could have, but he was overmatched. Did you see that hit put on him at the end when he fumbled it on the 3? Bama smacked Texas around all night.

The entire Texas team was overmatched. Supposedly they were one of the best run-stop defenses in the nation..and Bama rolled up over 200 yards on them on the ground. Colt McCoy had nothing to do with that.

Alabama would have won it even with McCoy. Might have been closer, but they would have still won. They were the better team and deserve it.

I really applaud Texas for making it close and getting to 24-21. They did not lay down and die when McCoy went out. Texas threw things at Bama that they were not ready for, especailly in the kicking game. That's something Bama will have to work on in the off-season. But I really don't think McCoy being in there would have made too much difference with Bamas' defense.

Bama still beat 13 other teams and 5 ranked teams to make it to the title game.

You have to credit Texas for making the game interesting in the second half, but I tend to agree with Megospidey.

With McCoy out, Sabin coached to protect the lead — defensively and offensively — rather than try to force the issue. It was the prudent thing to do after he took some early risks that put his squad behind the eight ball.

Bama was a bit better on both the offensive and defensive fronts.

Great game, though.

Now, Sabin needs to go attempt to conquer the NFL again so Arkansas can rise to the top of the SEC West.
