how sad. A talented, funny guy. It's odd how so many comedians are themselves such sad people

      Holy smokes...and I'm a big fan of the dude...wow.

Stabbed himself nine times...man...he must really hate himself...that's some violent attempt right there.

I hope he now gets the proper help...I wanna see him again.

      Holy smokes.

He was a big reason I stopped listening to Stern, I really liked him but he was so self destructive.

Howards tried to tell him for yrs, that he was going down the path of yet another tradic Comedic Death unless he tried to straighten himself out ...

I think the Guy is a Real Funny Talent for sure,.. even though he really hasn't had Oppertunities outside the Show or Stand up to show it.

Two of the nine cuts were deep, this was more of a cry for help.....again! imo not a real suicide attempt.
I have been a fan since WNBC and when Artie was at his lowest destructive point on the show Howard loved it.....it's what they call Radio Gold.

He was actually on Mad TV but his drug abuse screwed that up as well not to mention the few movies he has been in all while under the influence. Artie has always been fighting with some pretty serious demons and losing!

Heroin seems to have a tight grip on Artie, I wish him the best but I think his Stern days are over.

Rumor is Jim Bruer might be a regular in the future!

Howard's whole career has been built primarily on the misfortunes (and the abuse) of others.

It's why even tho' I laugh on the occasional visit to "Howard-ville"
I could never stomach being a regular listener.

Hopefully Artie will seperate himself from such messes---it would be a miracle
                    ---but it'd be nice.

Stern has done nothing but help Artie.

Hopefully Artie can get his life together. He's a hilarious comedian, but he's battled demons his whole life.

That's easily arguable. Most of Artie's schtick on the show is about him putting his life at risk with drugs etc....a.k.a. "enabling" Artie...

I may not be a regular listener, but you could glean that much just from reading posts/news on the Internet.

That's true, but that's from Artie, Howards not his keeper, he's his boss first and friend second. Artie has had a death wish for a long time. Maybe he will finally get the help he needs so badly. Howard wouldn't even talk about it today.

On the one hand, I feel sorry for the guy. He is troubled and needs help.

On the other, I'm annoyed that someone so talented and beloved who makes in a year or two what I'll make over the course of my lifetime would squander all the opportunities he's had and spit in the faces of his family and loved ones by blowing it all on drugs and drink.

Howard Stern is one of the most genuine and nicest guy in the business...stop this nonsense. He always contributes to charities...but he doesn't want to make a big issue out of it.

Plus he is the only one who showcases people who would never even go through security in any other venues.

Stern never takes drug...rarely drinks...love his daughters to death...and has no ill feelings towards his ex...he never badmouths her.

If you can't separate show business shtick with reality...you got problems.
