-13 windchill in Louisville this morning. Had to take my wife to work when she developed a flat tire on the way down. Unfortunately the heat in my 'Stang went OUT on the way downtown. I got her there and got back home in an hour's time, but man am I hurting. Even wrapped up I froze. I suspect I'll get to keep my fingers and toes. Put some warm water on them when I got home. Cleaned them good, then got hold of my Green Arrow. Ah! Feel the blood FLOW through the hands...

      >I love how everyone freaks out down here when it starts getting cold.

People freak out up here, too. It's not exactly a SURPRISE, and yet every year....

I don't mind the cold, and even with 12cm of snow I still ride my bike to work.

I hear that one. Heat pumps are only good when there is heat in the air to transfer. AND if your house is insulated well enough to hold the warmed air in it.

I don't really mind the cold outside, but it sort of follows me into this old house. My kitchen is currently at 30. I gotta go in and wash up after breakfast.
        Ahh the pioneer days.
When we moved in here, we had to heat our own water as well. Used to boil 5 gallons with a propane heater for the bathtub on bath days.

Well, they closed the schools here for no reason today. Not only did we not get the snow but we didn't get the freeze they thought we would. Teachers and even kids not happy today.

I wouldn't say that. It's 18 at my end of the state right now.

I'm not saying it isn't cold, because it is. It's 28 right now. We just didn't get the snow like they said we would. It's still very chilly still.

It was really nice this morning, mid 50's, sun was out. By ten I could see the front rolling in. Five more days 'til things get back to normal.

Maybe I should take a trip down your way. This is the second straight day we've gotten snow.

Sounds like a great place Hector. But that wouldn't be like Melbourne. Melbourne is our weather Joke here in Australia (Sorry SOWTH!). They get all four seasons in one day. . . .very labile the weather there from very hot to freezing cold. Not here in Brissie though. We have a hot sticky summer for 4 or 5 months, and the rest of the year is pretty great. . . .comfortable, nice weather. . . .we sometimes have a week of winter (some years), but it would never snow here.
