I knew Argentina and Uruguay would be up there in the meat category...but I'm shocked Denmark is the top dog in the pork category...I thought Spain would be number one for sure.

Thought you guys and gals might want to know.

Of interest... In Uruguay, poultry (chicken, that is) is actually pretty expensive for the average family.

Real meat, steak, spare ribs, sauages... that stuff is inexpensive. Most families will consume large quantities of cow and pig along with pasta and eggs.

Chicken is reserved for very special occasions.

The point being, why kill a chicken for one meal when the chicken can produce unlimited amount of eggs for many meals?

      Exactly.

      In Argentina...cattle outnumbers people 2-1.

I'm sure Uruguay has the same ratio.

I would be interested in seeing numbers showing what the incident of heart disease and obesity are in Beef/veal countries.

Surprised Mexico didn't show up in any of those top 5's. I thought for sure it would be U.S. and Mexico dominated.

I like your little information posts Hector. I am surprised that US and Australia aren't higher on the first list.

I'm surprised the US didn't make the pork chart because of Hawaii and Puerto Rico.

                    They're both huge pork eaters
