Disney to make films of secondary Marvel heroes!!

When I saw the pic of Nova next to this report, I just rubbed my hands together with glee. Okay I can dream a little right? One thing is for sure, those dreams may get rooted in reality. Alot of characters are getting looked at, so we fans may see some of those secondary characters in a big budget theatrical release. The possibilities are unlimited!

    Here's the report...

Hmmm, not sure the obscure characters will be as succesful as the main heroes. I sure as hell wouldn't wanna bet $4.2 billion on it

As far as I see it...this genre is still virgin territory---
comicbook heroes have slowly gained footing in box office return
and now they are more "on top" than they ever have been...

The big heroes have opened a door for a few lesser knowns to walk in...
if they aren't handled right the door will start to shut again.

I'd like to think this all could succeed and that the idea of a big budget
DR. STRANGE movie or a HAWKMAN movie isn't too outrageous.

I'm all for it not only beause I like superheroes but because there aren't enough "fun" movies being made these days not including stuff geared soley towards kids.
There's been many of weekend I wanted to go to the movies but didn't because because all that was was drama movie #501, 502, and 504,romance movie #645, 646 & 647, and kids movie #722. I undertsand a sizable amount of folks like that stuff but some folks (like me) just want to go to the movies to be entertained..period. I'ma big supporter of direct to DVD releases for this reason.

Someone like Blade isn't exactly a household name but the 3 movies averaged $68,000,000 US Gross & $139,000,000 Worldwide Gross (rounded down).

The Hellboy movies - okay not Marvel but even more obscure AND a demon to boot! - averaged $67,805,231 US Gross & $130,106,011 Worldwide Gross.

It doesn't matter that the characters are not known to the public, what matters is a decent script, actors, director ( Fantastic Four) & effects team.

Honestly, most of the Marvel characters were obscure to the general public before the Marvel movies began to hit. Spider-Man, the Hulk, and maybe Captain America were probably the only ones who were known to most people. Fantastic Four and X-Men, some folks had vague recollections of. Iron Man even less so, and we all know how that turned out!
