    Colts phone it in

Man, I am so po'ed! What a disgrace to the game. I love the Colts and it feels like the GM just kicked all the fans in the nads! You should play every game to win. Sad. What do you guys think?

It's a shame. Chances for an undefeated season are few. Not too mention that you never want to go into the playoffs on a losing note. Momentum and mentality are huge underrated factors. I would have played to win.

Exactly. They tried this before and got booted out of the playoffs in the first round. Don't mess with momentum. It's like history and the fans mean nothing. I know if I payed to see the game, I'd have thrown a fit.

I agree, it sucks! And you could tell Manning was peeved as well! I understand you have to keep the ultimate objective in mind, but season ticket holders are already getting ripped off twice a year by being charged full price for exhibition games, and this amounts to another one of those. As Herman Edwards so famously put it, "You play to win the game!".
The Colts may still win the Super Bowl, but they miss out on the opportunity to do something really special. I'm not a Colts fan, but had they been going for 19-0, I'd have been rooting for them. As it is, I'll pull for the Saints or Vikings or Cardinals (and as an AFC guy, I can't believe I'm saying that!).

Well, I certainly still support the players, but am extremely displeased with management.Hard to justify giving them our hard earned money, to see half hearted attempts.

I can't blame Peyton and the others for being mad. If they were going to do this they could have just forfitted the game and saved eveyone the trouble. Now what's the point of the starters to even dress out next week?

Just goes to show you how much being undefeated screws with the team's head. Here you have a competitive matchup with the Colts clearly having the upper hand on the Jets and, for no reason that is abundantly clear, the coach pulls one of the game's best QBs to supposedly "save" him for the playoffs...? WHAT? Hey coach!! What about team morale? What about getting your QB rusty with limited play and a bye before your first playoff game? Oh, and what about that undefeated season that was in your grasp? Sure you don't want your QB hurt if he's getting beat up (like Favre was last week). But don't take the guy out of a game he is winning when he's not getting much heat and the "perfect" season can be obtained without harm to the primary players. Just incredible! The Colts had one of the easiest schedules left the last two weeks of the season, so this coach had no reason to rest Manning. Let's face it. He blew it and created controversy when he least needed it.

I think sitting your Player's is a Stupid Move..., unless you are pretty much going to win the Game. It Takes away from your Team, and Kills what you they have thus far been able to do,... Playing. That's why They have the Top Seed..., Because they Play.

I think Back When Dever Overly Sat Player's a couple of those yrs I believe,.. Only to Loose thier Arse in the Play off's..., I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't screw The Colts some way..., and would be shocked if it didn't ...

They're still going to lose to the Chargers...and Manning knows it too

I have been a Jets fan my entire life, but nobody wants a tainted win. This game had no moral value to it and it hurts. Yes we were losing but we were in the game, and pulling out Peyton with half the other starters made the win hard to watch.

The Chargers are looking good for sure. Momentum is on their side. It would not surprise me to see them win it all. To be honest part of me feels the Colts deserve to lay an egg after this bone head move(not the players faults though).

But don't go thinking Manning's scared of 'em

^^ To quote Manning on Sportscenter: "The only team that scares me right now is the Chargers"

I hated seeing it, as well! I'm pretty sure Peyton wasn't happy, at all, about it either.
