James Cameron curses out an autograph seeker

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dwUl...layer_embedded

Some say he was a straight fan and Cameron was being a straight off jerk, others say he was a professional autograph seeker and Cameron was on to him.

I say it's just fun to watch them go back and forth.

    Clip might be NSFW.

Regardless of who he was...to me...it looks like the autograph seeker was the jerk.

First of all...Cameron is under no obligation to sign anything...he just got off the plane...and just wants to go home.

The auto seeker was on his tail...relentless...kept on yapping about how he only earns $15...and Cameron has a billion dollars. What the hell? What the heck does that have to do with anything?

I couldn't really tell what Cameron was saying back...but he was obviously annoyed.

Cameron just finally lets it go...and gets into the SUV...the auto seeker is still yapping about how Cameron's movies are for kids...that they have no story...and so on.

I truly despise fanaticism...period. I myself have seen famous people in person...and not even a million years have I sought an autograph...first...I could care less...and second...leave them be...you are only making them feel more important than what they're truly are...or deserve.

IMO...the autograph seeker was the jerk here.

Having said that...Cameron has the reputation of not being too likable himself.

Gotta agree with Hec here (what, again? ), but the autograph seeker is indeed an *******

looks like a set up to me, why else would the entire thing have been filmed. I have heard Cameron is an egotisitical jerk but it did not look like he was in the wrong on this one

I would have stood next to him the whole time and never even knew who he was.

Speaking from a different perspective (someone who does collect certain autographs) this is something I'll never get. I'd never chase anyone down. In fact I much prefer conventions because the celeb will use a nice selection of pictures or if you can get your own and bring it. I've never understood the appeal of having a peice eof paper signed. I also don't get the chasers (expcet those who are doing it for money, their reasons are obvious). I would feel so awkward bothering someone on the street and even if they sign it really takes all the air out of it. Usually in a convention environment everyone is happy to to be their.
Of course I guess that easy for me to say because most of the people I am intrested in (old TV/wrestling) frequently do shows/appearances and in some cases even sell their autographs online.

After Avatar, I think Cameron can use every fan he has left. Even the annoying ones.
Heck, that guy might have been his last fan...

Very well said. I totally agree.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

One of the reasons guys like Cameron work so hard to succeed
is so that they CAN forget "where they came from". They earn it.
I don't blame celebs for wanting their privacy....altho' how some go about it
is indeed questionable. Cameron seemed just fine to me in that clip.
(The autograph seeker" on the other hand...)

And, altho' Hector's (and other's) point of well "they're just like us" is
well-taken---there's a reason that people want their autographs and
not some everyday guy's....it's because they have suceeded making a name
for themselves in a field where autographs are part of the territory.
I don't hold anything against them for that...I gladly submit that this
makes them special in the same any other occupation has certain things
about them that make the people in THOSE occupations special.

That's your perogative. The guy doesn't treat auto seekers how you'd like,
so you decide not to support his films.

Hopefully, if one of his films is pretty dang up your alley, you can steal it off
the Net or something because it'd be a shame to deprive yourself of his
product just because you don't like how he treats people when he's going
                          out to dinner.

Rewatching this again, the "fan" is acting a lot like how Stuttering John use to bait celebrities.

I have a feeling it was all put up --- by the fan.
