I have appreciated the similllarity between Heath's curious choice
of vocal inflection for THE JOKER
and Eddie Van Halen's natural speaking voice...
but, man,
does TOM WAITS' accent sound LEDGER JOKER-esque
in this 70s interview clip from an Australian show.

Yeah, and it was an Aussie show with an American Host. . .or Yank as we used to say back then. . . .far too politically correct to say that these days!

wasn't Australian

As far as the "Yank" terminology goes...I haerd it a lot for the first time
when I went to England in the summer of '90...I took it pretty lightly
and still do altho' I'm sure many times that I've heard it uttered, it held more
malice than I detected
