    Underrated actors

I find a few actors very underrated. The first is :
Jim Carrey- I saw him in a dramatic role about 15 years ago and he was awesome. I thought it was going to be his breakout role. He has stuck with goofy and that's a bit disappointing.

Brandon Frazer- Very good actor who has gotten pidgeonholed with the mummy movies. He can act when the script calls for it.

The older brother in the show supernatural.-I love the show and he makes the show. It would not work without him.

Haden Christianson- Just kidding, this kid truly sucks.

    Add to my list??

Ponceman Perry! hes GREAT on YouTube and needs to make the jump to Hollywood.

    EVERYBODY loves him!

Hollywood is afraid because he has Downs Syndrome. Yet theyll take Hanks, Penn and Decaprio and have them play "******** " parts. Isnt that like the old days of making a caucasian an Asian ( Alec Guiness) Hispanic ( Chrlton Heston) etc?

Jim Carrey - do you remember what roll it was? I actually thought that in "Cable Guy" he was pretty on-edge and underrated and he was absolutely brilliant in "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind".

Brendan Fraser - he got a lot of praise for his roll in "Gods and Monsters", I'm not a huge fan personally - but he is competent.

Hayden Christensen - HA - a buddy of mine use to baby sit him so I had been routing for him for a while. Is he actually that bad or are the movies he's in so terrible that he doesn't stand a chance? I don't think I've even seen him in anything yet, so I don't know.

Weird - all three are Canadian!

      My picks are:

Ian Holm - outstanding in every movie, so much so that people tend to forget him as an actor - the characters just take over I guess.

Jeff Bridges - he's super famous and gets a lot of acclaim, but never seems to show up on great actor lists. My guess is that he's never done any big scene chewing performance so he remains kind of obscure in a weird way.

Will Ferrell People are sick of him and he might not have much range, but I've never seen him break character in a movie for a second.

I know more will come to me - but those are the first ones that pop into my mind.

I'll jump on the Jim Carrey bandwagon- "The Majestic" is my favorite film of his.
He plays a great average joe part in a drama.

Leonardo DeCaprio is still underrated in my opinion. Most people associate him with Titanic but I thought he did an outstanding job in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape".

Johnny Depp is another one. I realize he takes on a lot of eccentric and oddball roles but he is a really good actor.

Jeff Daniels- a guy who can play funny (Dumb & Dumber), drama (Gettysburg), kids (101 Dalmations).

Timothy Hutton- wondeful as Archie Goodwin in the excellent Nero Wolfe series, Leverage is a really great show as well.

agreed Both actors are "Known" for the face roles as "movie stars" but both have taken on dramatic roles that show their skills as Actors

Johnny Depp is one of the greatest actors ever. Not that I am a fan of all of his movies, but the dude is one of the VERY few actors who can completely step outside of his persona and into any other he chooses. I think few people appreciate just how difficult that is.

I agree on the Johnny Depp statements. I really didn't like him that much in the Wonka movie but replacing Gene Wilder in that roll takes nads. He doesn't shy away from anything he considers a challenge. You have to respect that.

Brendan Fraser I like but more so because of the Mummy movies. Just thought he brought a great aspect to the series. He does a pretty good job on the show scrubs as the head doctors dead best friend. Hate all of the episodes of that show except the one he's in. Loved Journey to the Center of the Earth.

Always liked Sandra Bullock and if you haven't seen "The Blind Side" go see it wether you're a sports fan or not. It was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. And yes it does have a lot to do with the fact she is smoking hot, and this movie is no exception. Murder by Numbers is another one she is extrememly good in. She pulls off comedy, drama, and suspense all with tremendous success.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

Johnny Depp for sure.He is a true actor if I've ever seen one.
Brendan Fraser is also Amazing. The mummy series, school ties, ink heart all great films.
Matt Damon however since the bourne stuff his career has sky rocketed so maybe he doesn't fit anymore but still great.
Mark wahlberg he is also a fantastic actor.
Now how about robert downie junior?Did he slip down the polls because of his drugs or is he back again for good? His acting is top notch.
Dwayne Johnson aka the rock his acting is phenomenal.
I also really like and think he is under-appreciated is Cheech Marin aka Cheech from cheech and chong. He is a great actor but often gets pigeon holed into some crap.
                              Josh Brolin always great.
Ryan Reynolds is a good actor as well.
