Three words: MST3K Santa Claus.
Or six words: MST3K Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.
....is MST3K a word....?

What I like to do is break out the DVDs of stuff they don't show on TV any more. Did that the other day with the Christmas episode of Night Court.Leave a comment:

I hear you on that one. That's why I don't own so many DVDs.Y'know, even if it's not the holidays, the thrill is gone once you get any DVDs or in my case videos. I used to get so excited when a Star Trek movie would come on TV. I'd call my friend and we'd get together and watch. Well, my friend moved and I got a set of letterbox videos (and bought the others not in the set), it knowing that I can watch them anytime just kills it for me.
!
Except when the apes come on, you KNOW I have to watch those even if I have them on tapes and DVDs...Leave a comment:

Back on the holiday tip, I'm not that thrilled w/ Hallmark channel this year, b/c despite the fact they have a large number of self-produced holiday movies in their repetoir, they keep showing the same ones over and over! I haven't seen some of my faves yet this year. Today they did show some good ones, but I was at work! AARRGGHHH!Leave a comment:

LOVE catching the '70s Show Christmas episode whenever it's on.. The Monkees one is good too.
Grinch and Charlie Brown specials are the best.
I enjoyed 'Jingle All the Way' perhaps only once a year..Leave a comment:

The Grinch who stole X-mas ( Toon,.. don't like the Movie)
The Kids Next Door Episode,.. with the Xmas Men

I like having the dvd's! It's hard with the kids growing and always on the move to have everyone home at the same time farless to be there when it comes on TV.....
Saturday night with all the snow and the family all together we poped some popcorn and threw in It's a Wonderful Life.....good times!Leave a comment:

The 1st Santa Clause is good....the 2nd I only remember the scene where he digs out the old toys at the office party or something....Never saw the 3rd because I can't stand Martin Short.
Speaking of Tim Allen...saw Christmas With the Kranks the other day...it was mildly funny.
And then another one in the over-run department is the Jim Carrey Grinch.....I liked it when I saw it in the theatre, but my kids have ruined it for me. I still stand by the original 30-minute cartoon with Boris Karloff. A TRUE classic.Leave a comment:

Go watch some of that Tim Allen Santa Crap,.. and you will think otherwise...
I got subjected to that BS the other Day..., Horrible, Horrible stuff. I need to take a Shower afterwards.

They have beat "Elf" into the ground this year. I haven't noticed "Home Alone" on that many times.
The ABC Family "25 Days of Christmas" didn't seem to have to selection they have had in the past.
The spent an entire weekend on Harry Potter movies (nothing to do with Christmas).
I really loved "Prep & Landing"!!!
Oz use to come twice a year, Easter and the weekend before Thanksgiving (it started the holiday season in my household)Don't blame the DVDs for this one...blame Ted Turner. Ever since he acquired the rights to the Wizard of Oz it's become his new Beastmaster. There was once upon a time when The Wizard of Oz would be rolled out by CBS around Easter time, once a year. But now it seems to hit the cycle every 2 months or so. And it's always back-to-back showings or "3 Chances to Watch" for a whole weekend. It just aired around Thanksgiving time and now it played again during Christmas Week.Last edited by theantiquetiger; Dec 21, '09, 11:03 PM.Leave a comment:

On a related note.....I love the movies but I am sick to death this year of Elf, Christmas Vacation and Home Alone being shown constantly. Aren't there any other Christmas movies to show?Leave a comment:

DVDs are killing the Christmas Spirit at my house
The last couple years, my daughters would go crazy when Oz or Polar Express would come on. It just felt like the holidays when they came on.
Last year, they got the DVD's and now can care less when they come on TV.
I told my wife to never buy them (or me) "Christmas Story", because it does not feel like Christmas Eve without that playing in the background while I put toys together.Last edited by theantiquetiger; Dec 21, '09, 10:54 PM.Tags: None
