A bunch of frakkin felgercarb, if you ask me.
I wouldn't give two cubits or touch that with a 10 micron pole.
Well, I'm out of mushies. Be back in a few centars.

I'm trying to imagine the American building construction trades trying to go metric

I got your meter right here

I remeber being stopped by a state trooper down in Oregon one time.
He walks up to the truck and asks me I kid you not these are his exact words.
"Hey BOY,You know how fast you were goin?"
I said "Yes sir,I was driving 90 kilometeres an hour."
He scrunches up his face adjusts his hat and then says "Boy your in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA NOW,and we don't use no Key-low-mee-ters here!!!Now how fast were you going?"
Without skipping a beat or blinking and eye I said "Well sir then I wuz Drivin fitty-five meals-per-hour."
He did not seem to find me funny though?
He just let me go on my way.
“When you say “It’s hard”, it actually means “I’m not strong enough to fight for it”. Stop saying its hard. Think positive!”

"Yes sir,I was driving 90 kilometeres an hour."

I'm surprised he didn't laugh and give you a ticket right then and there

Actually, would it be worth it even writing a ticket ?

Seems like it wouldn't be worth it because someone would just go back to Canada and not pay it.

I do remember back around 1999 or 2000 when the Euro was being phased in, stores would state prices in the local currency and in Euros so you were allowed to pay in either currency.

If memory serves me right there was a big stink at one point over the conversion rate because it became fixed at one point so it really didn't matter what the local currency was doing in the interim because the exchange rate was fixed. I think some countries were not happy because there were a few countries where the currency had been inflated (maybe by design) at the time of conversion while other countries had a deflated currency.

Come on guys? Feet and inches?
                  How about thumbs and elbows?

                  "I weigh 11 stone?"
Then how about "I weigh 72 bricks?"
"I weigh two German Shepherds and one Jack Russell?"

Even on Star Trek, the metric system is used.
We have adapted to the Euro, and it didn't kill us. And the Euro is basically like a Dollar.

Isn't it logical to use divisions in "tens" and "hundreds", instead of feet?

It makes sense. Mr. Spock uses it!
In the US we don't use stones for weight just pounds/oz. I have no idea how much a stone is.

We also buy soda in 2 or 1 liter bottles but our milk is in gallons/quarts. So go figure.....

Seriously, it all comes down to we don't have to do everything the World does.

The imperial system worked fine for all this time, there's no reason to change it.

As far as the Euro ....... IMO, it's not a good thing.

You guys are losing your country's identity, uniqueness and heritage ... especially if you eventually all become the United States of Europe --- which I heard the Euro is step one in that process.

If the US does not use strongarm dictatorial tactics like Europe, the people won't change.

And i'm glad that wouldn't happen here
Mike, you really need to come visit us, so you can see with your own eyes how wrong your views sometimes can be.
When the euro was first introduced shops would have prices in both euro and our old Belgian Frank and that lasted for many many months, if not longer. By seeing both prices you could get used to the conversion and eventually the price stickers were in euro only and the Belgian Frank was no longer used. You could exchange your old money for euros in the bansk till a certain date and after you got stuck with them. So if you didn't want to loose money, you were forced to exchange them.
But no strongarm dictatorial tactics were used

And yeah, the metric system is so much easier really: ones, tens and hundreds in stead of inches or feet. Everytime I see people talk about 2 5/8 " for instance I don't even attempt to convert it. And inch is no problem, but when you guys start with quarters, 3 quarters or worse I give up. How you people know what height a certain something is is beyond me with that weird system of yours

90km/h is the equivalent of 55mp/h...The posted limit was 55
