My favorite set from the 80's was the 1989 Score set. It was their first foray into the football card world and they didn't print near as many as the other companies. The design is very much to my taste. Clean and simple. Plus it had a large batch of big name rookies - Troy Aikman, Barry Sanders, Michael Irvin, Deion Sanders, Thurman Thomas. And they had a special section for rookies. This is probably my 2nd favorite set next to the 1969 Topps.

I have a gem mint perfectly centered one that I got from a pack I opened! That's one of my favorite cards from that set.

That 1989 Score set would have Thurman Thomas' Rookie card in it, as well.

That set is chock-full of Hall of Famers (or sure to be HOF players, as in the case of Tim Brown, who is just now coming up on eligibility) Rookie Cards.
