I was an avid collector until the mid 90's when the hobby got out of control. I still dabble now and then, but only with cards 89 and older. My favorite set by far is my 1969 Topps set. And my favorite card is without a doubt, the 1969 Topps Bryan Piccolo. Anyone who does not recognize that name has not see the awesome flick "Brian's Song" Highly recommended, although have tissues at hand. Not too many flicks can make a grown man cry, but this is one of them. By the way, the correct spelling is mostly thought that he spelled it with a "y" and it is spelled with a "yo" on the front of the card and the movie has it with an "i"! Any Chicago natives out there who might know the facts? Anyway, awesome set. I found both Pic and Gale Sayers in pack fresh condition back in 89 at a hole in the wall card shop. If they would have had grading back then, they would have been gem mint 10's. But after sitting in my binder for 15 years, I sent them in and Pic got a 7 and Sayers got an 8. Yeah, I know Dumbldor, now they are "trapped in a prison"! Another interesting fact is that this is the ONLY card ever produced for Pic. He wasn't good enough to warrant a card in his early years and when he and Sayers formed the dynamic duo in 67-68, Topps finally included him in their set. Then with his passing soon after, this wound up being the only card ever. Another one of the reasons it's my favorite. I have 3 others in various conditions I have purchased over the years just because I like it so much. Any other football card collectors here?
