does "flicker ring" type of software exist?

I wasn't sure where to post this so let me explain it further.

I am sure most of you can recall those old toy rings or baseball type cards that if you move them side to side the picture you are looking at will move like you are watching a short animated scene

The 1980's marvel secret wars toy figures shield's had this function

I have a complete set of old monster cards from the 60's I am thinking of scanning to preserve. In their case they came with a piece of plastic with the grooves in it so that when you move the plastic over the card, the card scene animates.

My question is if I scan these cards, does some sort of software exist that if you load in a picture made in this type of format, it would perform the same action as if you had that grooved piece of plastic

Ouch. I think that'd be more a hardware-related problem. You COULD try scanning them straight up and see what you get, and scanning them with some cardboard planking holding them at different angles so's to capture each separate image.

Yikes that might be hard, next to impossible. Then again if you had the time and did not mind the very tedious work involved, you could scan it normally, then use photoshop to separate the animated motions pasting each strip in the appropiate picture box. So in the end, one scanned card could result in two (or 3) scanned images

Of course trying to take a picture of it might be just as hard as well.

This is why I was hoping someone made a software to emulate that grooved plastic piece. Techincally I think something like that could be done
