Gil Gerard (and Erin Grey) elevated the Buck Rogers TV show above the material on the page. Gil Gerard had the look and swagger of the classic '70s man of action, but he always had a twinkle in his eye that also allowed you to enjoy the campy fun of it. I felt he was a better actor than he got credit for. Heck, I even watched "Sidekicks" religiously because I loved him as an actor.
