The end of Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

I've always wondered if I am the only person for 30+ years who was bothered by the end of this that when Snoopy and Woostock sit down to their turkey dinner, Woodstock not only eats another bird (the turkey) but does so with such reckless abandon. Even fighting over the wishbone.

You're not the only one.....I mention every year to my kids that Woodstock is apparently a cannibal....

What also bothers me is that all of these unseen parents have no problem with their children being invited to Chuck Brown's house for Thanksgiving dinner without even calling up HIS unseen parents to make sure it's ok...

It's a classic show but I don't think it's as well written as the Christmas or Halloween specials. The whole Snoopy versus the Lawn Chair segment is drawn out....And it bothers me that Lucy is nowhere to be found at the pseudo-Thanksgiving dinner.

Woodstock is a bird of prey so he eats other birds now the truth can be told TMZ has exposed his untold lifestyle of eating other birds rumor has it he ate Foghorn Leghorn and that little Chicken hawk...

Left on the cutting room floor was Chuck lashing out at Lucy and telling her she wasn't
invited to anymore parties because she's a meanie.....

I was also just thinking tonight how normal it was back in the 70's for all of the kids to climb into the back of a station wagon and hang-out together with no seat belts on, etc. Now Mr & Mrs Brown would be pulled over and taken into custody.
        It's all good!

In at least one of the specials, Snoopy packs lunch for Charlie and Sally and sends them off to school. No parents in sight.

            Maybe they're all out "swinging"?

Personally, I firmly believe the children of this unnamed town Charlie Brown lives in, took over! The parents (and anyone over 10 years old) have all been tied up and are kept in the basement, where they are fed just enough to stay alive....all except the much hated teacher, who is gagged, bound, and sitting in her chair at school.

This theory of mine explains why there seems to be no one but these kids running the place, and whenever an adult is heard, their speech is garbled and muffled....as though gagged!

Yeah, and he gets the worst chair too!

Actually, I do give Charles Schultz credit for inserting a black character instead of Lucy who would have spent the whole show ep calling Charlie Brown a blockhead. I mean, wasn't this ep made in the late 60s/early 70s?

I thought it was funny that for the improvised Thanksgiving dinner, Snoopy made popcorn, toast, etc. and yet at the end he had a turkey dinner with the trimmings. He was obviously holding out on the kids since they invited themselves to Charlie Brown's place. The scene where the kids are riding in the back of the station wagon brings back memories because my cousins and I used to do the same thing in my aunt's station wagon. We even rode from Reno Nevada to Roseville California in the back of a pick-up truck when we were pre-teens. Those were the days. Racing along the interstate at 55mph in an open-backed truck. None of us ever got killed, and we even sat on the wheel wells. I would never allow my son to do that.

Peanuts is the greatest. The ending when Snoopy and Woodstock are eating gets me all choked up.
