Many years ago, the late great Mary Tyler Moore was in an interview. She remarked how she knew a little something about comedy. Of course, she was being facetious (she was a queen of comedy). She had stated that in her estimation, the greatest show ever written was "Cheers." While that is certainly highly debatable, it certainly would land on most lists in the top 10 (certainly top 25). Without George Wendt, the show would not have been nearly as funny as it was. He received 6 consecutive Emmy nominations for the role. He should have won. He was a great character actor.Comment

I'm a California guy and was never a huge "Cheers" fan. But I went to college in the Boston area when "Cheers" was still on TV, and it was huge there at the time. As the title of this thread illustrates, that collective greeting when George Wendt entered the bar was iconic.Comment
