Dio is a true Metal icon and pioneer. Both lyrically and vocally tallented. Hope he pulls through.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

This is what I remember most from Dio through the years. I loved the Rainbow song. The satanic stuff always left me with an un-nerving feeling. Just superstitious I guess.

Bummer. I hate to hear that. I read the statement released and it is encouraging. But, in all likelihood he'll have to have, at minimum, a partial gastrectomy to get that cancer out. Stomach cancer is ugly in any stage, starting with stage 0 (earliest stage). They'll have to examine the lympnodes around his stomach when their in there. I hope he survives this and is able to move forward.

Ronnie James Dio is one of my major influences and he would be what you call "my idol". He is the greatest. One of the vocalists that I "wanted to be" growing up.

When the day comes (hopefully not soon) if he passes. I will be devastated.

Hopefully Ronnie can kill this dragon and come back out in time to do his "DIO TOUR" that he had scheduled this year. He can do it because he is Dio.

I don't think the term "satanic" is the correct term. Satanic refers to a devilish character of a dark being from Christianity type references. The Devil is believed in certain religions and folklore to be a powerful, supernatural entity that is the personification of evil and the enemy of God and humankind. The Devil is commonly associated with heretics, infidels, and other unbelievers. The Abrahamic religions have variously regarded the Devil as a rebellious fallen angel or demon that tempts humans to sin or commit evil deeds. Others regard the Devil as an allegory that represents a crisis of faith, individualism, free will, wisdom and enlightenment.

In some cases it also is a religion or relates to Satanism. Ronnie James Dio is not apart of the Satanism religion and never has wrote or sang lyrics about it. Satanism comprises a number of related beliefs and social phenomena. They share the feature of symbolism, veneration or admiration of Satan (or similar figures). Satan first appeared in the Hebrew Bible and was an Angel who challenged the religious faith of humans. In the Book of Job he is called "the Satan" (meaning "the accuser") and acted as the prosecutor in God's court. A character named "Satan" was described as the cosmic enemy of the Lord and temptor of Jesus within many of the Gospels of early Christians. It was further developed in scope and power as the bringer of Armageddon and Apocalypse as featured within the Book of Revelation.

Ronnie James Dio is not apart of any form of "Satanic" or "Satanism" I would think the term "dark" or "evil sounding" would be the more fitting terms toward some of Ronnie James Dio's music. Like reading a Stephen King book. It's just there to scare you not convert you.

Amazing that Ronnie was able to reunite with Black Sabbath. Sad that Black Sabbath felt they had to change the name to Heaven and Hell. Tony Iommi said it was only done because the Ozzy version of Black Sabbath was in the Hall Of Fame and they didn't want to use the Black Sabbath moniker anymore with any lineups.
To me, Ronnie, Toni, Geezer and Vinny are the second Black Sabbath!!!!

Lucky Bastich. I have the new CD in regular rotation. Minivan, three car seats, and Dio on vocals baby.

                        I hope he beats it.
