anyone else ever had to have shoulder surgery

    Hi Gang,
I had to have a shoulder surgery on Friday. After they opened me up they found some growth spurs and some torn muscles that needed to be repaired. well Monday they told me I could take the dressing off and shower well as I was taking the dressing of I found that the guy putting in the staples got staple happy and went ahead and put a staple into the dressing to hold it in place. Well no one told me about the extra staple so as I take the dressing off here I think it is stuck (no where near the cut) so I pull it and it gave and when I get it off here I have half a staple hanging out of my chest so I pulled it out (made me feel like the guy in the comercial where the lady staples the flower on the guys suit then offers to fix his zipper lol) So I take a shower and clean it up and found I have 12 staples and a ton of swelling and bruising I stopped taken the pain pills Monday and am now just taking tylonal it does still hurt but I'm not big on pills and don't like being bubble headed. I go see my Doc in the A.M. so he can tell me how the cut looks. I have been doing the exercises(can't believe how fast they want you moving your arm after having surgery but I guess they don't want it to freeze up on you). So I'm hopefull that the swelling and pain go away here within the next few days and I can get some good sleep I hate having to sleep sitting up in a recliner but laying down really makes it hurt.

Well I think that's about it for now just wanted everyone to know whats been going on with me,

Oooh! That sounds really painful. I hope your shoulder heals soon, and w/ as little pain as possible.

Thank You everyone I really appreciate all the well wishes. I am feeling a little less pain today (I wish my muscles in my bicep and neck would loosen up) but other then that I actually feel pretty decent I can't move my arm up yet but baby steps baby steps lol.

                  Thanks Again Gang,
                  John

That sucks man. Sounds like the Doc's could have been better. I had rotator cuff surgery 2 years ago about this time. Had a GREAT Doc, and he had me in PT 2 days after surgery. I was back to work in two weeks, although I still wasn't allowed to list anything heavier than a fork with the arm. Still, was done with therapy a couple weeks before scheduled and after 6 months I was 100%. All in all, no complaints.

My brother in law had surgery a few years ago and had a problem with the cut healing. It kept opening up. About a month after surgery a plastic screw found its way through the wound and then it healed. When he went to the doctors to tell them about the screw floating around in there, the response he got was "It happens." All is well with him now.
Didn't mean to scare, just an odd story to tell. Hope you get better quickly.
                        It's all good!

Heal well! That "extra staple" business sounds nasty.
